Adopt. Don't Just Buy.
Every dog deserves a safe, loving home. SJOC aims to connect people who are ready to welcome a companion with responsible adoption and rescue opportunities.
Before bringing a dog home, think about time, space, food, veterinary care, exercise, companionship and the years of responsibility ahead. A dog should never be treated as a temporary possession.
For Adopters
Take time to understand the dog's age, temperament, health, background and needs. Consider whether your family and lifestyle can provide a stable home for many years.
For Rescuers
Share reliable information about dogs needing homes. Wherever possible, provide photographs, location, health information and details about the dog's behaviour.
For Families
Talk together before adoption. Everyone who lives with the dog should understand the responsibilities involved and be prepared to welcome the new companion.
A Second Chance Can Change Two Lives
SJOC hopes to make it easier for people and dogs to find one another through responsible connections, information and community support.
